The Bomb Shelter Comedy Showcase was started in March of 2010 by cofounders Patrick Hasie and John Eide.  The monthly comedy show, which takes place at the Beechwood Lounge in Des Moines, has quickly become one of the best places to see live comedy in the state of Iowa.  Featuring local and regional acts from all over the Midwest, the Bomb Shelter is now only a fan favorite, but a comedian favorite as well. Hosted by the genetically-engineered mind-splosions of Luke Ritter and Ryan Solomon!

Mike Lebovitz got his start in comedy at the tender age of six with clowning classes at the local JCC. He’s been delighting and confounding audiences big and small with his accessibly off-beat brand of humor ever since. A father as well as a fat slob, Mike draws from a broad range of experiences in constructing his act, using outlandish viewpoints and subversive turns of phrase to highlight the inherent absurdity of being. He doesn’t point out life’s quirks; he rolls around and farts on them! Mike is currently a member of Comedians You Should Know, Chicago’s premiere stand-up comedy collective. He is also curator and co-creator of Senorita Weiner's Top Secret Humor Experiment and Ice Cream Social Club, which is Chicago's longest-running clandestine comedy show in as well as the original underground, members-only ice cream social. A national club favorite and burgeoning international star, Mike just took home the grand prize at the Montreux International Comedy Competition in Switerland and was a stand-out "New Face" at the 2013 Montreal Just For Laughs Comedy Festival. He has also performed at the 2012 TBS Just For Laughs Festival (Chicago), The Oddball Comedy Festival and is scheduled to weird people out at the upcoming 2014 Gilda's Laughfest in Grand Rapids, MI.

Julie Bane signed up for a comedy contest because her friend did.  Only her friend didn’t.  Not wanting to disappoint, Julie went through with the contest.  And she went on to become a semi-finalist in the Twin Cities Funniest Person contest in 2011.  Julie was encouraged by that night’s feature to pursue stand-up comedy. Julie has the keen ability to find the funny in every day situations.  Her humor focuses on her life:  marrying her high school sweetheart, her dog, her love of volunteering, and pretty much anything her sister says. If comedy doesn’t work out, Julie has an MBA to fall back on.  She could be your next CEO.  Now that would be really funny.

Peter Banachowski started performing stand up at age 17 at a high school talent show in Oxford, Michigan. After being bit by the comedy bug, Peter looked for a doctor in comedy clubs and bars all throughout Detroit, even graduating from the now defunct Second City Detroit.

Still sick, Peter moved to Los Angeles where his condition grew worse and he started performing comedy every night at LA’s best clubs and shows. During his time in LA, he graduated from The Upright Citizen’s Brigade theater, and the famous Groundling’s school for improv where he honed his character work. He can be regularly seen performing stand up at the Hollywood Improv, the Comedy Store, and the best underground shows in LA such as “HOLY FUCK!” and “Brew HAHA”.

None of it has killed the comedy bug though. His diarrhetic comedy condition moved him to New York where he is making his way up the east coast ranks, performing at clubs and bars throughout the city.

Subtle hilarities and slow burns are the trademark of Brandon Ream, this one-lining wordsmith. Having done comedy all over the Midwest his stage presence is only paralleled by his unparalleled abilities to use adjectives and to let everyone in on the Joke without the mess of a rimshot.

Casey Crawford is a stand-up comedian from South Dakota who specializes in well crafted, dumb and dirty one-liners. If you appreciate comedians like Rodney Dangerfield, Emo Phillips, and Roseanne Barr, you're totally gonna dig this guy. He has been lucky enough to share the stage with Kyle Kinane, Rory Scovel, Neil Hamburger, and Mike Lawrence.

Patrick Hastie is a stand up comedian from Iowa who now lives in New York City. His energetic stage presence, infectious charisma and love of performing shines through in every joke and every story that he tells on stage. He has done stand up all across the country and in festivals like the Great American Comedy Festival, the Out of Bounds Comedy Festival and the Cabin Fever Comedy Festival. Patrick can be seen in the web series "Our Friendship is Dead" on Funny Or Die and in 2013 he released his first stand up comedy EP, "The Baby Comic", on Hypnopro Records.
